As the week begins, we are given the message from contrary Salmon that we may have been behaving in a reckless manner, ignoring our own inner guidance or the good advice someone has given to us. This may be because we are afraid to move forward along our life's path. The angels tell me that you are stronger than you know - strong enough to face whatever lies ahead. Do not get trapped by trying to swim back upstream in order to avoid the rapids ahead. You will only exhaust yourself in the process. Salmon says it is better to to WITH the flow, even when you are afraid. Sometimes, in order to be true to yourself, you must face the fear of rejection we all have. Yes, you might fail. Yes, you might look foolish. But you might also strike gold. It's not worth sitting on the sidelines allowing your life to pass you by just for the sake of making others happy.
In the middle of the week, we are joined by stealthy Weasel, who advises us to observe EVERYTHING. There are many, many people out there right now looking to part you from your hard-earned money who are more than willing to take advantage of you. This may be a business deal or investement that sounds too good to be true. Or it may be a group of naysayers who are telling you that your ideas are impossible and that you should follow along with them instead. Whatever the situation, Weasel says the key is to look for the deeper meaning rather than taking things at face value.
As the week draws to a close, we are brought the message that we need to focus on love and compassion. The energies we have faced this week may have been exceptionally harsh, or we may have allowed our perfectionistic tendencies to sneak back in, making us feel unworthy of love and compassion. Deer says, no matter what situation you are facing right now, the key is love. Find a way to love something about your current situation - this love will cleanse away any negative emotions and leave you ready to move forward in the coming week.

Monday, January 23th and Tuesday January 24th: Salmon ~ Wisdom & Inner Knowing (contrary)
If Salmon is floating belly up, recklessness may have kept you from achieving a goal. Are you ignoring the wise advice of others or your own inner voice of wisdom? Contrary Salmon may be telling you to be sill for a time and find the flow again. Ask yourself where you became distracted or confused. Then imagine returning to the place you last felt certain of yourself. Feeling a sense of serenity means you are tapping your inner knowing and wisdom again.
If you have been seeking the approval of others by being a follower instead of listening to your personal knowing, it may be time to reclaim your own authority. Are you stubbornly rejecting the truth of a situation, trying to be right or in control, and overriding your instinctual wisdom or inner knowing? If so, get out of your head and get back to the wisdom found in your heart and feelings. Like Salmon, people sometimes need to backtrack upstream to see where life's meandering tributaries flowed away from the original headwaters of their certainty, wisdom, instinct and inner knowing.
Wednesday, January 25th and Thursday, January 26th: Weasel ~ Stealth
Weasel has an incredible amount of energy and ingenuity, yet it is a difficult power totem to have. Weasel ears hear what is really being said, and Weasel eyes see beneath the surface of a situation to know the many ramifications of an event. This is a rare gift.
If Weasel is your personal medicine, your powers of observation are keen. You might even look a bit guilty at times due to what you know from observing life. You may be a loner hiding yourself away from others, or perhaps even a recluse.
You are a powerful ally to have in any business organization since you can see what the competition is doing. People may make a great mistake in sizing you up since they do not immediately see your powers. But the first time they try to out-smart you, they will learn that your intelligence is greater than their own.
Look to Weasel power to tell you the hidden reasons behind anything. Some people are put off by Weasel medicine, talent, and abilities, but there are no bad medicines. We all have power, or we would not be here to heal Mother Earth. Observe who or what needs attention or a solution and offer your assistance in your own quiet way.
Friday, January 27th to Sunday, January 29th: Deer ~ Gentleness (contrary)
Deer in the contrary position indicates that you are courting your fear by fighting the internal demons of negative ideas. This is a clue to you that force is not always the best method. You may not be willing to love yourself enough to feel your fears and let them go. You may be projecting your fears on others. It may also be others whom you fear, reminding you of a time when you reacted to life in much the same manner. At any rate, love is the key. The only true balance to power is the love and compassion of Deer. Be willing to find things to love about yourself and others, and your demons will melt away. Your fears cannot exist in the same place that love and gentleness abide.
Remember, Fawn can teach you many lessons about unconditional love. In its true application, unconditional love means that no strings are attached. The gentleness of Fawn is the heart-space of Great Spirit which embodies His/Her love for us all.
