As the week begins, we find contrary Eagle in our cards bringing the message that we have given away our personal power somewhere along the way. This is especially true in regards to your relationship with Great Spirit. Eagle says it is important to maintain a strong connection to the spirit world through meditation, prayer and simply having daily conversations with your angels, your guides, the universe and God (as you understand and recognize God). Eagle also tells us that now is a time to take excellent care of ourselves - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. When we begin to take care of ourselves, it becomes easier to see ourselves as the children of God, deserving of love and care no matter what we have done, no matter how we look, no matter what we weigh, no matter what shortcomings we may believe we have. We are worthy of this divine love no matter what! Eagle says "Take back your Personal Power and learn to love yourself the way that Great Spirit loves you - limitlessly and unconditionally!"
The middle of the week brings generous Turkey who tells us that the path to self-love begins with gratitude. He says that now is the time to begin a self-love journal wherein we spend some time each day writing down at least three things that we LOVE about ourselves. He tells me that if we make this a consistent, daily practice we will begin to view ourselves through the eyes of love and gratitude and the flaws that we allow ourselves to become so obsessed with will begin to melt away.
As the week ends, we are joined by contrary Antelope, who warns that we are stuck in some form of indecision. As we have spent the past several weeks working on clearing the flow of abundance into our lives, we may find ourselves with many opportunities on our plates and feel unsure which way to go. We may also find that our decision-making process is clouded by outside advice and people who feel that they "know better." Whatever your current situation, Antelope says that the solution is simple. Find some quite time where you can be alone and undisturbed. Get out a pen and some paper and write down all of your options and opportunities. Don't worry about what order you list them in at first. Once all of your options are written down, ask yourself what you want to do THE MOST. The first thing that pops into your mind is the right answer. Follow your gut instincts and intuition to order this list. Once you are finished, make a clear commitment to begin. This will begin to clear away the confusion and stagnant energy that has accumulated.

Monday, February 27th and Tuesday February 28th: Eagle ~ Spirit (contrary)
If Eagle is contrary, you have forgotten your power and connectedness to the Great Spirit. You may have failed to recognize the light that is always available for those who seek illumination. Heal your broken wings with love. Loving yourself as you are loved by the Great Spirit is the lesson which the contrary Eagle brings.
On some level, Eagle is telling you to seek higher ground on which to build your nest. The nest is the home of the heart and cannot remain in a swamp. If your nest is in a swamp, this may be connected to your belief that your wings are clipped by an impossibility in your present life.
Eagle's nest is high in the mountains where the air is clean and the movement free. Seek lofty ideas and illumination will be close at hand.
Wednesday, February 29th and Thursday, March 1st: Turkey ~ Give Away
Turkey is actually called the Give-Away Eagle or South Eagle of many Native peoples. The philosophy of give-away was practiced by many tribes. Simply stated, it is the deep and abiding recognition of the sacrifice of both self and others. People in modern society, who have many times more than they need, should study the noble turkey who sacrifices itself so that we may life. In Turkey's death we have our life. Honor Turkey.
Spectators unfamiliar with the cultural phenomenon of the potlach or give-away ceremony are often mystified by it. A tribal member may gladly give away all he or she owns in order to help the people. In present-day urban life, we are taught to acquire to get ahead. The person with the most toys wins the game. In some cultures, no one can win the game unless the whole of the people's needs are met. A person who claims more than his or her share is looked upon as selfish or crazy or both. The poor, the aged, and the feeble have honor. The person who gives away the most and carries the burdens of the people is one of the most respected.
Turkey was the medicine of many saints and mystics. Celebrate if you have Turkey medicine. Your virtues are many. You have transcended self. You act and react on behalf of others. You aspire to help those who need help. This is not out of some sense of self-righteous moralism or religious guilt. Help and sustenance are given by Turkey out of the realization that all life is sacred. It is knowing that the Great Spirit resides within all people. It is an acknowledgement that what you do for others you do for yourself. Turkey medicine rests in true ego, in enlightenment. Doing unto others and feeding the people is the message of all true spiritual systems.
When Turkey appears, you may be being given a gift. This gift could be spiritual, material, or even intellectual. The gift may be great or small, but it is never insignificant. Congratulations! You have just won the lottery. Or the gift may be a beautiful sunset, or the smell of a fragrant flower. On the other hand, you may feel the "spirit of giving" growing within you and wanting you to share with others.
Friday, March 2nd to Sunday, March 4th: Antelope ~ Action (contrary)
Contrary Antelope is a sign that you are not listening and not acting on the will of Great Spirit. You may be taking more than your share. Antelope medicine in the contrary makes you crazy and quarrelsome. You will certainly be indecisive and not know what direction to turn. You might be lying to yourself and others. Stop lying even if you think it will get you off the hook. Contrary Antelope will trip you at every turn. Quit being so conventional and following others all the time. Take your own authority. Let Antelope's heart beat strong in you, and you will know the way. But, as always, the message is, "Do it!" The fear of the unknown subsides once action begins.
Contrary Antelope may also be telling you that a decision to start is now necessary. The main element in procrastination is lack of conviction. To honor your chosen destiny is to honor your commitment to doing what you proclaim you are doing. Walking your talk is the essence of Antelope people. Talking your walk is contrary Antelope personified.
To right contrary Antelope, three steps are necessary:
1 - Have the desire to do something.
2 - Make the firm decision to begin that action.
3 - Do it!
